Ian's Preschool held graduation ceremonies today. What a riot.
Because things were scheduled to kick off at 1pm, I simply took the whole day off. I didn't want to miss a thing. That meant I got to see Ian wake from sleeping, sit up in bed, and before anything else, ask, "When's graduation?" I had never seen the kid so excited for something before.
My mom and sister were able to join us in the school's gym with the parents of the other 20 or so kids in the preschool to watch the kids get their diplomas. There was a procession in while "Pomp and Cimcumstance" played. They wore paper graduation caps. They entertained us with some songs. They made all of us laugh, cry, and be very proud of our little graduates.
Ian, by the way, was easily the best singer in the bunch. If you gauge "best" by how loud the singing is and how emphatic the accompanying hand gestures are. A number of moms congratulated Ian afterwards about the wonderful job singing he did. I am so glad that we got that on video tape. Can't wait to pull that out for his high school graduation party or wedding reception.
Of course the night was capped off with the graduation ceremonial dinner of Ian's choosing; hot dogs, Doritos, strawberries, and ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Hmmmmm.
Of course we have pictures, but I don't have them ready for the web yet. Don't worry, they'll come - they'll come soon.
