It's Been an Interesting Week

  • I had jury duty on Monday. Got called for a jury array, but didn't make it into the jury. I was kinda looking forward to serving on a jury - just to see what it was like. Thought it would be interesting to at least do once. Maybe I'll get a chance another time.

  • Ian finally got his swim lessons in. After getting canceled for rain or being too cold last week, Ian got to learn how to put his face in the water and some swimming basics. Took them three weeks to get in 8 daily swim lessons.

  • Zoe rolled over for the first time. Of course we missed seeing it, but it happened. Zoe had been laying on her tummy and Heather walked in to find Zoe laying on her back and screaming cause she was stuck. Zoe's getting to be very active - real good at scooting on her back. She'll spin around in cirlces. It's kinda funny.

  • Emma's decided that eating dinner and sleeping through the night might be a good thing. Heather and I are both rejoicing.

Now we're looking forward to the 3-day 4th of July weekend. Not sure if we'll be able to go to the parade. It's at 1pm on Sunday - right smack in the middle of nap time for Emma and Zoe.

I did buy some small fireworks to shoot off with the kids. Sparklers, snakes, and some fountains. Nothing major, but I know Ian and Emma will love them. The big Aurora city fireworks have been moved to a new location this year - very close to our house. I'm figuring we will either make the trek over to watch them, or we might be able to see them fairly well from our deck in the backyard. We'll have to wait and see.

Finally, as proof of how dorky Heather and I can be, I offer up this photographic. I discovered that they made colored lights for putting in Malibu landscape lighting. So I purchased some red ones and blue ones and have decorated the front of our house for Independence Day:

The bushes hide some of the lights, but I think you get the idea.

Heather and I are already planning out what we can do for the other holidays.

    Like I said, we're dorky.
