Stop the Insanity

Now, you probably have to have worked in some form of design or publishing to get the humor, but if you have - it's a good one.

No Comic SansIt's the Ban Comic Sans website. A site dedicated to eradicating the comic sans font from the face of the earth. As they put it right on their homepage, "Since that time (the release of the font in 1995) the typeface has been used in countless contexts from restaurant signage to college exams to medical information. These widespread abuses of printed type threaten to erode the very foundations upon which centuries of typographic history are built."

I know we used it heavily around 1996-97 in a website I worked on, EducationalStructures.com - a site that no longer exists. Though I think we weened ourselves from it, thanks to the efforts of some great designers that came to work for us.

Make sure you check out the photogallery there to see how the proletariat has begun their guerilla campaign to bring an end to this font epidemic.

Thanks to Suzie - one of those great designers from ES - for sending this along to me.
