Batman on the Today Show

Yesterday on the Today show, they ran a segment on the new Batman film, The Dark Knight. Al Roker visited the set to interview Christan Bale, Aaron Eckhart, and director Christopher Nolan.

In typical fashion, NBC and Roker play Batman for cheesy "Zap!", "Pow!" laughs. Roker intros the segment by pantomiming the "Bat-tusi", and NBC takes the Today show out by playing the theme song from the 1960's uber-campy Batman TV show.

Never mind that in the interviews Nolan and Bale talk about the complexity of the Batman characters and the versatility that these characters present for storytelling. Nolan is working on telling compelling stories with timeless characters, the media continues to look no farther than a stereotype.
